Recognizing the Next Shift
I've spent more than three decades studying where technology is taking the real estate industry—and helping professionals adapt before everyone else catches up.
Throughout my career, I've been driven by one question: What is going to change next? When an important technology shift appears, I don't simply follow it. I dig in, study how it will affect the real estate industry, and look for practical ways to push the idea further.\n\nThat approach has taken me from early real estate technology and online home marketing to broker intranets, internet lead generation, social media education, cybersecurity, and now artificial intelligence. The technologies have changed, but the pattern has remained the same: recognize the shift early, understand where it is heading, and build something useful around it.
1994 — EARLY REAL ESTATE TECHNOLOGY PIONEER
Featured in REALTOR® Magazine as a "Tech Leading Agent" during an era when few real estate professionals were using emerging technology as a serious business tool.
MID-1990s — REIMAGINING NEW-HOME MARKETING
Pioneered new ways to market and build homes as an agent, including working with Minnesota's largest homebuilder to change established methods and adopt new ideas.
1998 — CREATED AGENTSPLANET
Created AgentsPlanet, an early broker intranet portal designed to connect real estate professionals with company information, resources, and technology before modern cloud platforms became commonplace.
EARLY 2000s — INTERNET LEAD GENERATION AT SCALE
Created and managed the website and online marketing operation for Liberty Realty, then Nevada's largest brokerage. The system eventually generated approximately 1,000 consumer leads per month.
EARLY 2000s — IMMERSIVE NEIGHBORHOOD CONTENT
Developed neighborhood pages featuring street-level visual experiences long before immersive street imagery became a familiar part of online maps and local real estate research.
2008–2010s — SOCIAL MEDIA FOR REAL ESTATE
After the housing crash, reinvented his work around the next major communication shift and authored multiple books, including Facebook for Real Estate, LinkedIn for Real Estate, The Twitter Startup Guide, Advanced Facebook, and Social Media for Real Estate.
WHARTON INTERACTIVE MEDIA INITIATIVE
Developed a framework describing the stages of internet development and their effect on real estate, then presented those ideas to Steve Ennen of the Wharton Internet Marketing Initiative at the Wharton School.
CYBERSECURITY EDUCATION IN NEVADA
Created a forward-looking cybersecurity course that helped establish a new category of continuing education for Nevada real estate licensees.
TODAY — THE REAL ESTATE AUTHORITY PLATFORM
Now applying the same pattern-recognition and innovation process to artificial intelligence, helping real estate professionals build authority through local expertise, specialty knowledge, authentic client stories, and AI-ready content.
WHY THIS MATTERS
Every major technology shift creates new winners.
Websites. Search. Social Media. Now AI.
The professionals who recognize these shifts early don't simply keep up. They become the trusted authority everyone else follows.
The future belongs to local professionals who consistently demonstrate expertise, build trust, and tell authentic stories.
Authority isn't claimed. It's earned.
